Born 1919 in Haleburg, AL (d. 2016), Monte Irvin was a right-handed outfielder who debuted in 1949 and played 8 major-league seasons. He batted .293 with 731 hits, 99 home runs, 443 RBI, and 28 stolen bases over 764 games. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame.
