1957 Topps #350 Eddie Miksis
Scarce fourth series: #265-352 is the tough run of the 1957 set — roughly twice as hard to find as the other series ("tough, not rare"). No documented reason survives; the best-researched account is that Topps printed the hastily assembled final series in quantity and left Series 4 with the shortest run.

About Eddie Miksis
Eddie Miksis (1926-2005) was a versatile utility man who signed with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1944 and debuted that June 17 at age 17 after just 72 games in the minors. Over 14 big-league seasons he played every infield position plus the outfield for the Dodgers (1944, 1946-1951), Chicago Cubs (1951-1956), St. Louis Cardinals (1957), Baltimore Orioles (1957-1958), and Cincinnati Redlegs (1958). His signature moment came in Game 4 of the 1947 World Series: pinch-running for the injured Pete Reiser, he scored from first with the winning run on Cookie Lavagetto's pinch-hit double, the Dodgers' only hit and the blow that broke up Bill Bevens's no-hit bid. Miksis appeared in the 1947 and 1949 World Series and famously lent his glove to rookie Ernie Banks. He finished with a .236 average, 44 home runs, and 228 RBI over 1,042 games, and was never a Hall of Famer. This scarce 1957 Topps Series Four card captures him in his lone Cardinals season.
