1957 Topps #196 Larry Jackson
Uncorrected error: Led league with 28 Ws. It was never corrected, so there is only one version of the card.
The #176 "Bakep" error: the back header reads "EUGENF W. BAKEP," the whole name garbled on the printing plate. It is the ONLY error Topps corrected in 1957, which is why the error back carries the premium — a PSA population near 215, topping out at PSA 8.

About Larry Jackson
Lawrence Curtis "Cocky" Jackson (June 2, 1931 - August 28, 1990), a right-handed pitcher from Nampa, Idaho, signed with the St. Louis Cardinals in 1951 and dominated the minors, going 28-4 for Fresno in 1952. He reached the majors in 1955 and pitched for the Cardinals (1955-1962), Chicago Cubs (1963-1966), and Philadelphia Phillies (1966-1968). A five-time All-Star and the first Idaho native so honored, Jackson relied on a sharp slider and never lacked confidence, living up to his nickname. His finest year came in 1964, when he led the National League with 24 wins for the eighth-place Cubs and finished runner-up to Dean Chance in Cy Young voting; on July 1 he retired the first 18 Reds before Pete Rose broke up the perfect game in the seventh, settling for a one-hit shutout. He retired 194-183 with a 3.40 ERA, 1,709 strikeouts, and 37 shutouts, then served four terms in the Idaho House. This 1957 Topps card carries an uncorrected error crediting him with leading the league in wins.
