New York Giants - 1957 Topps #317
1957 Topps #317 New York Giants
Scarce fourth series: #265-352 is the tough run of the 1957 set — roughly twice as hard to find as the other series ("tough, not rare"). No documented reason survives; the best-researched account is that Topps printed the hastily assembled final series in quantity and left Series 4 with the shortest run.

About the 1957 New York Giants
The 1957 New York Giants played the franchise's 75th and final season in New York before moving to San Francisco. Under manager Bill Rigney the club finished 69–85, sixth in the National League and 26 games behind the World Champion Milwaukee Braves. Willie Mays remained the marquee attraction at the Polo Grounds, batting .333 with 35 home runs, 97 RBIs, and a league-leading 20 triples. On August 19, 1957, owner Horace Stoneham — citing attendance that ranked last in the NL in both 1956 and 1957 — announced the move west, the same summer the Brooklyn Dodgers revealed their own departure for California. Only 11,606 fans attended the September 29 home finale, a 9–1 loss to Pittsburgh, after which spectators stormed the field for souvenirs. This team card, from scarce Series Four, closes the book on New York Giants baseball.
