This combo card, "Keystone Combo," pairs Hall of Fame double-play partners Nellie Fox and Luis Aparicio of the Chicago White Sox. From 1956 to 1962, second baseman Fox and shortstop Aparicio formed one of the most celebrated middle-infield tandems in baseball history, anchoring the "Go-Go" White Sox defense and offense. In 1959, Fox had the finest season of his career, batting .306 and winning the American League MVP award, narrowly edging out Aparicio, as the pair helped Chicago capture its first pennant in 40 years and reach the 1959 World Series against the Dodgers. Fox led the Sox with a .375 average in that Series. Their partnership was later commemorated with bronze statues outside the White Sox ballpark, depicting Fox flipping a ball to Aparicio at second base — a lasting tribute to their legendary double-play chemistry.
