1962 Topps #323 Don Landrum

About Don Landrum
Card #323 lands in the fourth series of the 1962 Topps set and is the last Topps card to picture Landrum in a Cardinals uniform. It followed a dismal 1961, a .167 average with one home run and 14 strikeouts in 66 at-bats over 28 games. St. Louis used him even more sparingly the next spring, 35 at-bats across 32 games, and on June 5, 1962 the Cardinals sent Landrum and infielder Alex Grammas to the Chicago Cubs for Bobby Smith and Daryl Robertson. Chicago gave him steady work right away, 83 games and 238 at-bats the rest of that summer.
Donald Leroy Landrum was born February 16, 1936, in Santa Rosa, California, and attended Mount Diablo High School in Concord. A left-handed hitter who threw right-handed, he stood 6 feet tall at 180 pounds and signed with the Philadelphia Phillies as an amateur free agent in June 1954. Landrum debuted on September 28, 1957, starting both ends of a season-ending pair in center field for the Phillies, then did not surface in the majors again until 1960. Philadelphia traded him to the St. Louis Cardinals in September 1960, and he logged just 73 games and a .227 average across three Cardinals seasons before a June 1962 deal sent him to the Chicago Cubs. He is best remembered in Chicago, where he was the club's regular center fielder in 1965. That December the Cubs dealt him to the San Francisco Giants, and he played his last big-league game on July 21, 1966. Over eight seasons Landrum hit .234 with 12 home runs and 75 RBI in 456 games. He later worked in businesses in East Contra Costa County and died at his home in Pittsburg, California, on January 9, 2003, at age 66.

Graded population — a scarcity guide, not a price. Snapshot 2026-09-24. Half-grades fold down (8.5→8), and PSA's qualified grades are counted separately from the straight-grade rows shown here. Slabs of the three cards printed #139 are joined by description, never by number alone. PSA registers the green tints as a separate set; a tint's population is listed under that state of the card it belongs to.
