About Mike Krsnich

Card #289 in the 1962 Topps set is Krsnich's rookie card, a fourth-series number, and it carries him as a Milwaukee Brave. He had spent 1961 at Triple-A Louisville, playing 144 games and driving in 92 runs, and the 1962 look was brief. He got into 11 games for the Braves, mostly off the bench, with three appearances in left field and one each at third base and first base, and managed one hit, a double, in 12 at-bats. His last big league game came on May 19 against the expansion Mets; he finished the year back in the minors at Toronto and Louisville.

Mike Krsnich was a right-handed-hitting outfielder and corner infielder from West Allis, Wisconsin, the son of a Montenegrin Serb father. His older brother Rocky Krsnich played third base for the Chicago White Sox between 1949 and 1953. Mike started out in the Philadelphia Phillies chain in 1950, was in the Braves organization by 1951, and lost the 1952 and 1953 seasons to the Korean War. Milwaukee brought him up on April 23, 1960, and across 1960 and 1962 he got into 15 big league games, going 4 for 21 with two doubles and four runs batted in. The minors were his real address: 12 seasons from 1950 through 1963, .288 with 127 home runs in 1,223 games, topped by a .349, 33-homer year at Topeka in 1957. At 31 he went to Japan and found his power there, batting .306 for the Taiyo Whales in half of 1963 and hitting 36 home runs in 1964, second in the Central League to Sadaharu Oh's 55. He closed out with Kintetsu in 1966 and Hanshin in 1967, 90 home runs in five Japanese seasons. Krsnich died in Mesquite, Nevada, in 2011.

Graded population — a scarcity guide, not a price. Snapshot 2026-09-24. Half-grades fold down (8.5→8), and PSA's qualified grades are counted separately from the straight-grade rows shown here. Slabs of the three cards printed #139 are joined by description, never by number alone. PSA registers the green tints as a separate set; a tint's population is listed under that state of the card it belongs to.
