The story on this card

Bosman opened 1967 at Triple-A Hawaii, going 12-11 with a 2.76 ERA before Washington recalled him in August. Over seven starts down the stretch he went 3-1 with a sharp 1.75 ERA, including a five-hit shutout of the White Sox and Tommy John. This card is 1967 Topps #459, from the set's sixth print series, part of the multi-player Rookie Stars subset and a recognized rookie card for Bosman; he shares it with Pete Craig. A hard-working right-hander who led the AL in ERA in 1969 and no-hit the world champion A's in 1974, missing a perfect game only on his own throwing error.

Nursing rotator cuff damage discovered that spring, Craig opened 1967 with the White Sox organization's Indianapolis Indians after Washington traded him away, then rejoined the Hawaii Islanders in July to finish out the season. He retired from baseball after the year, having lost velocity from the shoulder injury, and moved to North Carolina to begin a career in banking. This 1967 Topps Rookie Stars card, number 459 from the sixth print series, is issued with the Washington Senators, shares the card with Dick Bosman, and is Bosman's rookie card; Craig had already appeared on 1965 Topps #466. Canadian right-hander from LaSalle, Ontario, who pitched for the Washington Senators in brief September call-ups across three seasons before a shoulder injury ended his career.
