Daryl Patterson was a right-handed relief pitcher who spent parts of five major league seasons with the Detroit Tigers, Oakland Athletics, St. Louis Cardinals, and Pittsburgh Pirates from 1968 to 1974. Born in Coalinga, California, he attended College of the Sequoias before signing with the Los Angeles Dodgers organization; the Tigers then drafted him in the 1964 first-year draft and developed him through Rocky Mount, Montgomery, and Toledo. Patterson worked almost exclusively out of the bullpen, compiling an 11-9 record with a 4.09 ERA and 11 saves over 142 games. He appeared for Detroit in the 1968 World Series, throwing three scoreless innings against St. Louis. After his playing career ended in 1975, he spent twenty years with Pacific Gas and Electric, rising to chief inspector. He died in 2025 at age 81.
