The story on this card
Card #167, part of print series 2, spotlights Game 6 of the 1968 World Series between the Detroit Tigers and St. Louis Cardinals. With Detroit needing two wins in St. Louis to stay alive, Denny McLain started on two days' rest and delivered a complete game in a 13-1 rout. The Tigers broke it open in the third inning, sending 15 batters to the plate and scoring 10 runs off three Cardinals pitchers, highlighted by Jim Northrup's grand slam. Al Kaline added a home run in the fifth, and Willie Horton and Bill Freehan drove in early runs. The Cardinals' only run came on Julian Javier's two-out RBI single in the bottom of the ninth. The lopsided win tied the Series at three games apiece and set up a Game 7 duel between Mickey Lolich and Bob Gibson.
