About Andy Kosco

The Dodgers began a youth movement after the 1970 season, bringing up talent from their farm system, and Kosco became expendable. He had 51 hits in 224 at-bats that year, with 21 runs scored. Of his 74 appearances, 58 came in the outfield. His #535 card is a fifth-series issue that shows him with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Andy Kosco was an outfielder and first baseman out of Youngstown, Ohio, signed by Detroit in 1959 for a $62,500 bonus after a huge senior season at Struthers High School. Released by the Tigers in 1964, he caught on with the Minnesota Twins, tore up Triple-A Denver, and debuted in the majors in August 1965 during Minnesota's pennant run. Over a ten-year career he played for the Twins, Yankees, Dodgers, Brewers, Angels, Red Sox and Reds. After retiring he finished a bachelor's degree at Youngstown State and went into the insurance business, later running the agency with his sons.
