About Gerry Arrigo
On December 15, 1969, the Cincinnati Reds traded Gerry Arrigo to the Chicago White Sox for Angel Bravo. Card #274, from the third series of 1970 Topps, lists him with the White Sox. Gerald William Arrigo, a left-hander out of Harrison Technical High School in Chicago, pitched in the majors from 1961 to 1970 for the Minnesota Twins, Cincinnati Reds, New York Mets and Chicago White Sox. Signed originally by the White Sox organization, he spent one season in Class D ball before the Twins took him in the first-year player draft. His debut came on June 12, 1961, a start against the Red Sox at Fenway Park that ended in a loss. Arrigo threw two career one-hitters. The first was broken up by Mike Hershberger's single in the ninth inning in 1964, and the only hit of the second came from Jerry Grote in the first inning in 1967. His best season came in 1968 with the Reds, when he went 12-10 with a 3.33 ERA across 31 starts. He finished his career with a 35-40 record over 194 games and retired from pro baseball in 1971.
