1970 Topps #671 Jim Campanis

About Jim Campanis
In 30 games for the 1969 Royals, Jim Campanis went 13 for 83 with 5 RBI; he had made his major league debut with the Dodgers on September 20, 1966. His #671 is a high number from the seventh series, and it shows him with Kansas City.
James Alexander Campanis was a right-handed catcher who spent six seasons in the majors, from 1966 through 1970 and again in 1973. He broke in with the Los Angeles Dodgers and played for them from 1966 through 1968, then moved to the Kansas City Royals for the 1969 and 1970 seasons before closing his playing days with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1973. His father, Al Campanis, was general manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers from 1968 to 1987. Beyond his MLB stints, Campanis played winter ball in Mexico's Pacific League, suiting up for the Algodoneros de Guasave, the Caneros de Los Mochis and the Yaquis de Obregon. He later returned to work for the Dodgers organization and was with the club when it won the 1988 World Series.
