1970 Topps #192 Jim Qualls

About Jim Qualls
At Montreal's Jarry Park on July 2, 1969, Jim Qualls went 3 for 4 for the Cubs, with a double and a triple off Bill Stoneman and a second double against Gary Waslewski. Card #192 in the second series of the 1970 Topps set still shows him with Chicago, though the Cubs traded him to the Expos for Garry Jestadt on April 22, 1970.
James Robert Qualls, born October 9, 1946, in Exeter, California, was a switch-hitting utility outfielder and infielder who spent parts of three seasons in the majors with the Chicago Cubs, Montreal Expos and Chicago White Sox between 1969 and 1972. Signed by the Cubs out of Tulare Western High School in 1964, he spent five seasons working through Chicago's minor league system, mostly at second base, before making the Cubs' Opening Day roster in 1969 as a center fielder and pinch-hitting specialist. Over 63 career games he hit .223 with 31 hits. On July 9, 1969, at Shea Stadium, his one-out single in the ninth inning broke up Tom Seaver's perfect-game bid in a 4-0 Mets win, and he remains known mainly for that at-bat. After his major league career ended, he played two seasons in Japan for the Kintetsu Buffaloes.
