Nathaniel Oliver (December 13, 1940 - April 5, 2025) was a right-handed infielder from St. Petersburg, Florida, who spent parts of seven major league seasons in the 1960s, mostly with the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dodgers signed him out of Gibbs High School on June 10, 1959; he hit .329 at Great Falls in 1960, reached Triple-A Spokane in 1961 and moved to second base there in 1962. Oliver reached the majors in 1963 and stayed with the club through 1967, shuttling between Los Angeles and Spokane most years. He went to the San Francisco Giants in February 1968, to the New York Yankees that December and to the Chicago Cubs the following April, then played Triple-A ball in 1970 and 1971 before retiring. He hit .226 with 2 home runs and 45 RBI in 410 games, 291 of them at second base. Oliver worked for Bank of America and the Bay Area Rapid Transit system before returning to the game in 1988, managing and coaching in the minors, including stints with the Angels and Cubs, into the 2000s. The son of Negro leagues player Jim Oliver Sr., he was also a singer, asked to perform the national anthem at a 1990 Dodgers old-timers game after Ella Fitzgerald cancelled.
