The story on this card

Corkins came to 1970 after a September 1969 debut stretch of 1-3 and an 8.47 ERA. He spent the year in the Padres' rotation, making 24 appearances and 18 starts and striking out 75. He went 5-6 with a 4.62 ERA over 111 innings. Right-hander who pitched six seasons for the San Diego Padres, 1969-74, and started 44 of his 157 games. He went 19-28 with a 4.39 ERA and gave up Willie Mays's 600th home run on September 22, 1969.

Rafael Robles played for the Salt Lake City Bees of the Triple-A Pacific Coast League in 1970 and had nine hits in a doubleheader at Eugene by early May. He batted .261 for Salt Lake City, ranked second on the club with 22 doubles, and led the league's shortstops with a .957 fielding percentage. Slocum played all of 1970 with San Diego, 60 games and 10 hits in 71 at-bats, with 19 games at catcher and 17 at shortstop. On July 21 he started at second base when manager Preston Gomez pinch-hit for Clay Kirby in the eighth inning while Kirby was throwing a no-hitter against the Mets.
