About Ron Clark

Clark hit .193 in 62 games in 1969, five of them with Minnesota before the expansion Seattle Pilots bought his contract in July. In January 1970 he and Don Mincher went to Oakland for Mike Hershberger, Lew Krausse, Phil Roof and Ken Sanders. His #531 card, from series 5, shows him with the Athletics, though he spent all of 1970 with Iowa of the American Association.

Ron Clark was a Fort Worth, Texas infielder who signed with the Phillies out of Brewer High School in 1961 before a chain of transactions landed him with the Minnesota Twins. He worked his way up the Twins system, sharing the Pacific Coast League RBI title and winning a minor-league Gold Glove at third base with Denver in 1966, the year he debuted in the majors. Clark played a career-high 104 games for Minnesota in 1968, then moved through Seattle, Oakland, Milwaukee and Philadelphia over a seven-year big-league career, batting .189 with five home runs and 43 RBI in 230 games. He was part of division-winning clubs with the 1969 Twins and 1971 Athletics, and in 1972 he played 11 games at second base for the Athletics, the eventual World Series champions. Known for his toughness, Western style and Texas drawl, Clark later managed in the minor leagues and coached in the majors for the White Sox, Mariners and Indians. He then scouted for the Kansas City Royals before retiring from baseball in 2014.
