The story on this card
Brye got 28 games with Minnesota in 1971, all of them in the outfield. He hit .224 with 3 home runs and 11 RBI. His rookie card is #391, from the third series, a Rookie Stars card that pairs him with fellow Twin Cotton Nash, whose rookie card it also is. Brye is listed first, and both men are printed with the Minnesota Twins. Outfielder Steve Brye, a 1967 first-round pick of the Minnesota Twins, played 1970 through 1978 with the Twins, Brewers and Pirates. He won the center field job in 1974 and finished with a .258 average and 30 home runs in 697 games.
Late in 1969 the Twins asked Nash to come to spring training as a pitcher, but he played 1970 for Evansville and was called up in September, going 1 for 4 with two RBI in four games. He was with Portland in 1971. Card #391 in the third series of 1971 Topps is a shared Rookie Stars card with Steve Brye, both pictured with the Twins, and is the rookie card for each man. Cotton Nash, a Kentucky basketball All-American, played in the NBA and ABA and appeared in 13 major league games for the White Sox and Twins between 1967 and 1970. He was inducted into the Kentucky Athletic Hall of Fame in 1993.
