About Denny Riddleberger

Card #157, a second-series issue, prints Riddleberger with the Indians. Cleveland went 4-34 in the games he pitched in 1972, and in 1973 he worked the entire season for the Oklahoma City 89ers, the Indians' Triple-A affiliate, before retiring from baseball.

Denny Riddleberger was a left-handed reliever from Clifton Forge, Virginia, who pitched in the majors from 1970 to 1972. He attended Churchland High School and Old Dominion University, and the Pittsburgh Pirates drafted him in 1967. After going 24-16 with a 3.22 ERA in four seasons in their farm system, he was traded to the Washington Senators for George Brunet on August 31, 1970, and debuted against the Baltimore Orioles that September. He then moved to the Cleveland Indians, along with Del Unser, Terry Ley and Gary Jones, in a trade at the Winter Meetings on December 2, 1971. His big league record was 4-4 with 95 strikeouts in 133 innings over 103 games.
