Cards #472-478 cover the 1973 World Series between the Oakland Athletics and the New York Mets one game per card, Games 1 through 7, and #479 "A's Celebrate" closes the run.

The story on this card

Game 3 moved to Shea Stadium on October 16, 1973, and went 11 innings before Oakland won 3-2. Tom Seaver faced Catfish Hunter; Wayne Garrett homered and Felix Millan scored on a wild pitch for an early Mets lead, and Sal Bando and Gene Tenace doubled in a run in the sixth. Joe Rudi's eighth-inning single scored Bert Campaneris to tie it at 2-2, and in the 11th Campaneris singled off Harry Parker to bring home Ted Kubiak. Rollie Fingers got the save. Willie Mays made his last major league appearance in the game, pinch-hitting for Tug McGraw. Campaneris is the player on #474 in the 1974 Topps set, part of the World Series subset (#472-479). The A's wore tape with Mike Andrews's uniform number 17 in protest of Charlie Finley's treatment of him after Game 2.
