1974 Topps #305 Tito Fuentes

About Tito Fuentes
Fuentes scored 78 runs, drove in 63 and stole 12 bases for San Francisco in 1973. His 1974 Topps card, #305, shows him with the Giants. In 1974 he batted .249 with 97 hits in 108 games. On December 6 the Giants sent Fuentes and Butch Metzger to San Diego for Derrel Thomas.
Rigoberto "Tito" Fuentes was a Cuban-born switch-hitting infielder who spent nine of his 13 major league seasons with the San Francisco Giants. He played for Cuba at the 1961 Amateur World Series alongside Bert Campaneris and signed with the Giants before the 1962 season. His major league debut came on August 18, 1965. Fuentes sometimes wore a headband outside his cap and approached the plate holding his bat by the barrel, tapping the handle on the plate before flipping and catching it. He joined the Giants' Spanish-language radio broadcasts in 1981, stayed through 1992 and returned as an analyst in 2004. The Hispanic Heritage Baseball Museum inducted him into its Hall of Fame in 2002.
