The story on this card

Card #205 in the 1974 Topps League Leaders subset (#201-208) pairs the 1973 victory leaders, Wilbur Wood of the Chicago White Sox and Ron Bryant of the San Francisco Giants, each printed with his own club. Both reached 24 wins. Wood went 24-20 with a 3.46 ERA. He made 48 starts and worked 359 1/3 innings, both league highs. His 20 losses made him the first pitcher since Walter Johnson in 1916 to win and lose 20 in one season. Bryant went 24-12 with a 3.53 ERA in 41 games for the Giants.

Hoyt Wilhelm helped Wilbur Wood make the knuckleball his primary pitch with the White Sox. Wood set a major league record with 88 pitching appearances in 1968, including 2 starts. Ron Bryant was a left-handed pitcher from Redlands, California, who pitched for the San Francisco Giants. His 24 wins in 1973 made him the National League's only 20-game winner.
