A Miami high school product who went unsigned after being drafted by both Kansas City and Washington, he reached the majors with the Dodgers in 1969. He had been a backup before joining the expansion Seattle Mariners, who made him their primary catcher in 1977 and 1978. He finished with a .250 average, 33 home runs and 180 RBI. Seattle released him in August 1980.
