1976 Topps #8 Tito Fuentes

About Tito Fuentes
Fuentes hit .280 in 146 games for the 1975 San Diego Padres, 142 of them at second base. He added 4 home runs, 43 RBI and 8 stolen bases in his first season after the trade from the Giants. His 1976 Topps card, #8, lists him with the Padres.
Rigoberto "Tito" Fuentes was a Cuban-born switch-hitting infielder who spent nine of his 13 major league seasons with the San Francisco Giants. He played for Cuba at the 1961 Amateur World Series alongside Bert Campaneris and signed with the Giants before the 1962 season. His major league debut came on August 18, 1965. Fuentes sometimes wore a headband outside his cap and approached the plate holding his bat by the barrel, tapping the handle on the plate before flipping and catching it. He joined the Giants' Spanish-language radio broadcasts in 1981, stayed through 1992 and returned as an analyst in 2004. The Hispanic Heritage Baseball Museum inducted him into its Hall of Fame in 2002.
