1977 Topps #431 Dave Collins
Uncorrected error: The photo actually shows Bobby Jones, not Dave Collins.

About Dave Collins
Collins was the first batter in Seattle Mariners history and scored the club's first run two days later. He hit .239 in 120 games and led the team with 25 stolen bases while being caught 10 times. The photograph on his #431 card is actually Bobby Jones, an error that was never corrected, and the card prints the Mariners name.
Dave Collins was a switch-hitting, left-throwing outfielder and first baseman who played 16 seasons, 1975 to 1990, for the Angels, Mariners, Reds, Yankees, Blue Jays, Athletics, Tigers and Cardinals, hitting .272 with 395 stolen bases. The Angels took him in the first round in 1972 out of Mesa Community College, and he was billed as the fastest white man in baseball after running the 100-yard dash in 9.6 seconds. His best years came with Cincinnati, where he hit .318 in 1979 and .303 in 1980 with 79 steals, third in the National League. In 1984 he stole 60 bases for Toronto, a Blue Jays single-season record, and led the American League with 15 triples. He later coached first base for the Cardinals, Reds, Brewers, Rockies and Marlins, and managed in the minors. He was inducted into the South Dakota Sports Hall of Fame in 1995.
