Stan Thomas was a right-handed reliever who pitched in the majors from 1974 to 1977 for the Texas Rangers, Cleveland Indians, Seattle Mariners and New York Yankees. Born in Rumford, Maine, he attended Florida State and the University of New Haven and spent the summers of 1968 to 1970 with Yarmouth in the Cape Cod League. The Washington Senators drafted him in the 27th round in 1971, and he debuted with the franchise after it had become the Rangers. Texas sent him with Ron Pruitt to Cleveland for John Ellis at the Winter Meetings on December 9, 1975. The Mariners took him in the 1976 expansion draft, and he split 1977 between Seattle and New York, ending his career there. In December 1977 the Yankees dealt him with cash to the White Sox for Jim Spencer and Tommy Cruz. He finished 11-14 with a 3.70 ERA and 9 saves in 111 games.
