About Dave Pagan

Pagan's 1977 came to 25 games, four of them starts, including a complete-game shutout. He posted a 5.87 ERA over 69 innings. Topps issued him as #508 in a Mariners uniform. After the July trade he made one appearance for Pittsburgh, in September against the Mets.

Dave Pagan, a right-handed pitcher from Nipawin, Saskatchewan, pitched in the majors from 1973 to 1977 for the Yankees, Orioles, Mariners and Pirates. He signed with the Yankees organization in 1970 and got his first call-up on July 1, 1973, starting the second game of a doubleheader against Cleveland and lasting into the second inning. He made the Yankees' opening-day roster for the first time in 1976. On June 15 of that year he went to Baltimore in the ten-player trade that sent Rick Dempsey, Scott McGregor, Tippy Martinez and Rudy May to the Orioles for Ken Holtzman, Doyle Alexander, Elrod Hendricks, Grant Jackson and Jimmy Freeman. Seattle chose him in the 1976 expansion draft, which put him on the Mariners' inaugural roster. The Mariners traded him to Pittsburgh on July 27, 1977, and he retired after two more minor league seasons in the Pirates organization. His major league line was 4-9 with a 4.96 ERA over 85 games.
