The story on this card

Berenguer spent most of 1979 on loan to the Tacoma Tugs, Cleveland's Pacific Coast League affiliate, and went 8-8 with a 4.88 ERA there. His Mets time came late in the year: five starts, a 1-1 record and a 2.93 ERA, with the first big-league win arriving September 28 at Busch Stadium over St. Louis, saved by rookie Jeff Reardon. His rookie card is #721, the three-player Mets Prospects card he shares with Dwight Bernard and Dan Norman. Panamanian right-hander with a mid-90s fastball and a split-finger learned from Roger Craig, Juan Berenguer won rings with the 1984 Tigers and 1987 Twins and saved 17 games for the 1991 Braves, pitching for seven clubs from 1978 to 1992.

Bernard went north with the Mets in 1979 and allowed no earned run in 14 of his first 17 appearances, but a 4.50 ERA sent him to Tidewater in late May. He saved 16 games for Tidewater that year with a 1.77 ERA. Recalled July 27, he finished 0-3 with a 4.70 ERA in 32 games for New York. After the season the Mets traded him to Milwaukee for Mark Bomback. Card #721 is the three-player Mets Prospects card, his rookie card, shared with Juan Berenguer and Dan Norman. Dwight Bernard was a right-handed reliever for the Mets (1978-79) and Brewers (1981-82), the first Belmont player drafted, who saved six games for the 1982 American League champions and later coached pitchers for more than 30 years.

In 1978, Norman split the season between Tidewater and New York, batting .266 with 4 home runs in 19 games for the Mets. His 1979 Topps rookie card, #721, grouped him with fellow Mets prospects Juan Berenguer and Dwight Bernard. Norman appeared in 44 games for New York in 1979. Dan Norman was a right-handed-hitting outfielder who played for the New York Mets from 1977 to 1980 and the Montreal Expos in 1982. He came to New York from Cincinnati in the 1977 trade for Tom Seaver and played in the minors through 1987.
