About Cliff Robinson
Clifford Trent Robinson (born 1960) was a 6'9" forward out of USC whom the New Jersey Nets took 11th overall in the 1979 NBA Draft. A capable scorer, he bounced through six franchises over a career that ran through the 1980s and into the early 1990s -- the Nets, Kansas City Kings, Cleveland Cavaliers, Washington Bullets, Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Lakers -- averaging 17.2 points and 8.3 rebounds across 629 games. His best individual season came in 1985-86 with Washington, where he poured in a career-high 1,460 points. This card captures him with Philadelphia, where he landed via trade in 1986 and played through 1989. Never an All-Star and not a Hall of Famer, Robinson is one of the many solid veteran scorers who fill out this landmark set. Collectors should note he is a different player from the 1990s Portland forward "Uncle Cliffy" Clifford Robinson (born 1966), a frequent point of confusion.
