1986-87 Fleer #112 Sedale Threatt
1986-87 Fleer #112 Sedale Threatt

About Sedale Threatt
Sedale Eugene Threatt was a 6'2" point guard out of tiny West Virginia Institute of Technology, taken by the Philadelphia 76ers in the sixth round (139th overall) of the 1983 NBA Draft - a distinction that made him the last sixth-round pick ever to play in the NBA, since the draft was trimmed to two rounds in 1989. This is his rookie card, issued while he was still a 76er (Philadelphia, 1983-1987). He went on to a durable 14-season career, also suiting up for the Chicago Bulls, Seattle SuperSonics, Los Angeles Lakers, and Houston Rockets before retiring after 1996-97, averaging 9.8 points and 3.8 assists over 951 games. Lakers broadcasters nicknamed him "The Thief" for his knack for stealing the ball. Never an All-Star, Threatt is remembered as a steady, well-traveled guard - and as the only man to have been an NBA teammate of Julius Erving, Michael Jordan, and Magic Johnson.

About this card
The 1986-87 Fleer Sedale Threatt is card #112 in Fleer's landmark 'Premier' issue - the first nationally-distributed NBA set since 1981-82 Topps and, for many collectors, the start of the modern era of basketball cards. Because of the multi-year gap, it is the recognized Rookie Card for Sedale Threatt. He is pictured with the Philadelphia 76ers.
