About Clyde Drexler
This is Clyde Drexler's rookie card, and one of the set's Hall of Fame highlights. A 6'7" shooting guard out of the University of Houston - where he formed the high-flying "Phi Slama Jama" fraternity alongside Hakeem Olajuwon - Drexler was drafted 14th overall by the Portland Trail Blazers in 1983. He spent 15 NBA seasons split between Portland (1983-1995) and the Houston Rockets (1995-1998), earning 10 All-Star selections and five All-NBA honors (First Team in 1992). Nicknamed "Clyde the Glide" for his seemingly effortless, gliding drives to the basket, he finished runner-up to Michael Jordan in the 1991-92 MVP voting. Drexler won a gold medal with the 1992 Olympic "Dream Team" and an NBA championship after being traded home to Houston in 1995. He retired with 22,195 points (20.4 ppg), 6,677 rebounds, and 6,125 assists, was named one of the NBA's 50 Greatest Players in 1996, and was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2004.
