About Ricky Pierce

Born Richard Charles Pierce, this 6'4" shooting guard out of Rice University was drafted 18th overall by the Detroit Pistons in 1982 and went on to a 16-season NBA career (1982-1998). After early stops in Detroit and San Diego, he became a prolific instant-offense scorer for the Milwaukee Bucks, and later played for the Seattle SuperSonics, Golden State Warriors, Indiana Pacers, Denver Nuggets and Charlotte Hornets. Pierce twice won the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award (1986-87 and 1989-90), a rare feat that cemented his reputation as one of the era's best bench scorers, and he earned his lone All-Star selection in 1991. He averaged 14.9 points per game for his career. Known by the nicknames "Deuces" and "Big Paper Daddy," Pierce later earned a kinesiology degree from Rice. This is his rookie card in the 1986-87 Fleer set, issued during his breakout Sixth Man run in Milwaukee.
