1986-87 Fleer #47 Craig Hodges

About Craig Hodges
A 6'2" guard out of Long Beach State (1978-1982), Craig Hodges was drafted by the San Diego Clippers in the third round (48th overall) in 1982 and played 10 NBA seasons for the Clippers, Milwaukee Bucks, Phoenix Suns, and Chicago Bulls, averaging 8.5 points per game. This card captures him as a Buck, his home from 1984 to 1988, and is considered his rookie card. Hodges built his legacy as one of the great long-range marksmen of his era: he won the NBA All-Star Weekend Three-Point Contest three straight years (1990, 1991, 1992), joining a tiny group of three-peat winners, and set the contest record by sinking 19 consecutive shots in 1991. He earned two NBA championships with the Bulls in 1991 and 1992. Off the court, Hodges is remembered for outspoken political activism, including wearing a dashiki and hand-delivering a letter to President George H. W. Bush at the White House in 1991, and he later filed a lawsuit alleging he was blackballed from the league over his views.
