About Xavier McDaniel
A physical 6'7" forward out of Wichita State, Xavier McDaniel made college history as a senior in 1984-85, becoming the first player ever to lead NCAA Division I in both scoring (27.2 ppg) and rebounding (14.8 rpg) in the same season, earning consensus First-Team All-American honors. The Seattle SuperSonics took him 4th overall in the 1985 NBA Draft. He made the NBA All-Rookie First Team in 1986, finishing second in Rookie of the Year voting to Patrick Ewing, and earned his lone All-Star selection in 1988 with Seattle. Nicknamed "The X-Man," a play on his first name, McDaniel was known for a relentless, intimidating style and became one of the era's most notable enforcers, later facing off famously with Scottie Pippen in the 1992 playoffs. Over 12 NBA seasons he played for the SuperSonics, Suns, Knicks, Celtics and Nets, averaging 15.6 points per game. This is his rookie card in the 1986-87 Fleer set.
