About A.C. Green
The NBA's ultimate Iron Man, A.C. Green never seemed to miss a game — or much of anything else. A Portland native and Pac-10 Player of the Year at Oregon State, Green went to the Lakers 23rd overall in the 1985 draft and spent nine of his 16 seasons in purple and gold, holding down power forward on the back-to-back 1987 and 1988 title teams. He was an All-Defensive Second Team pick in 1988-89 — the very season this Fleer card hit packs — and a Western Conference All-Star starter in 1990. Stops in Phoenix and Dallas followed, plus a Lakers return for a third ring in 2000 and a final year in Miami. The nickname came honestly: 1,192 consecutive games played, an NBA record, with only three absences across 16 years. Card #66 isn't his rookie — Green was already a two-time champ by 1988-89 — but it's a set staple for one of the game's great constants: 12,331 points, 9,473 rebounds.
