About Jim Pisoni

James Peter Pisoni (1929-2007), a St. Louis native, signed with the St. Louis Browns before the 1949 season but lost two years to military service during the Korean War. He finally reached the majors on September 25, 1953, earning a lasting distinction as the last player ever to make his debut in a St. Louis Browns uniform before the franchise moved to Baltimore and became the Orioles. A right-handed-hitting center fielder, the Orioles later traded him to the Kansas City Athletics, where he played in 1956 and 1957, and he closed out his career with the Milwaukee Braves (1959) and New York Yankees (1959-1960). Across parts of four big-league seasons and 103 games, Pisoni batted .212 with 6 home runs and 20 RBI. After baseball he worked as an electrical contractor. This 1957 Topps card, issued during his Athletics tenure, is his Topps rookie card.
