The story on this card

1965 Topps #368, a recognized rookie card, catches Berry with the White Sox as part of the fifth print series, sharing the card with fellow Rookie Stars honoree Joel Gibson. It was Berry's first full big-league season: he played 156 games in center field, led American League outfielders in putouts, and hit .218 with 12 home runs and 42 RBI over 157 games. A slick-fielding White Sox center fielder who made the 1967 All-Star team and won Gold Gloves in 1970 and 1972 across a fourteen-year American League career.

Card 368, from Topps' fifth 1965 series, is a White Sox Rookie Stars card shared with fellow Chicago farmhand Ken Berry. It is Gibson's only Topps card. Philadelphia had traded him to the White Sox that past November as a player to be named later, and by the time the card appeared he was pitching for the Lynchburg White Sox and the Indianapolis Indians in his new organization; unlike Berry, he never reached the majors, working in the White Sox system through 1966. A record-setting college pitcher at Wilmington College and NC State who became his alma mater's first player with his own baseball card, Joel Gibson spent parts of six seasons in the Phillies' and White Sox's minor league systems without reaching the majors.
