The story on this card

Bando spent most of 1967 back in the minors after a rough four-week look with Kansas City, batting just .192 in 47 games with the big club. This Rookie Stars card, shared with Randy Schwartz, captured him as a 23-year-old third baseman still establishing himself; he would take over the position full time the following year. It is recognized as his rookie card. Team captain of Oakland's early-1970s dynasty, Sal Bando anchored third base through three straight World Series titles and made four All-Star teams before finishing his career with Milwaukee.

1967 Topps #33 Rookie Stars pairs Schwartz with Sal Bando, both representing the Kansas City Athletics, from print series 1 of the set. It is a recognized rookie card, Schwartz's only appearance in the 1961-1969 Topps run. Schwartz, a left-handed first baseman signed out of UCLA, came off two brief late-1960s trials with Kansas City, going 3 for 18 with two RBI in 16 career games. A left-handed first baseman out of UCLA who reached the majors with Kansas City in two late-season trials, 1965-66, collecting three singles in 18 at-bats.
