About Jim Nash

Nash's 1967 card catches him in his second season with the Kansas City Athletics, coming off a rookie year in which he went 12-1 with a 2.06 ERA and finished runner-up to Tommie Agee for the American League Rookie of the Year award. That strong debut also landed him on the cover of the March 13, 1967 Sports Illustrated alongside fellow young Athletics pitchers Catfish Hunter and Blue Moon Odom. Card #90 comes from the first print series of the 1967 Topps set and is recognized as his rookie card.

Jim Nash was a right-handed pitcher who broke in with the Kansas City Athletics on July 3, 1966 and immediately became part of a young Kansas City rotation. He went 12-1 with a 2.06 ERA over 127 innings as a rookie, finishing second in American League Rookie of the Year voting behind Tommie Agee. Nash appeared on the cover of the March 13, 1967 issue of Sports Illustrated alongside fellow young Athletics arms Catfish Hunter and Blue Moon Odom. He remained a workhorse starter as the franchise moved to Oakland, but recurring shoulder soreness kept him from repeating his early success. He went on to pitch three seasons with the Atlanta Braves and closed his career with the Philadelphia Phillies in 1972. Over seven major league seasons he went 68-64 with a 3.58 ERA in 1,107.1 innings, striking out 771 batters.
