1968 Topps #466 Bill Dillman

About Bill Dillman
Card #466 is Dillman's first solo Topps issue, a Baltimore portrait sitting in the sixth series. He did not appear in a major league game in 1968, so the 1967 rookie season still stood as his entire big league record: five wins, nine losses, a 4.35 earned run average, two complete games and 69 strikeouts over 124 innings.
William Howard Dillman was a right-handed pitcher out of Wake Forest University, born May 25, 1945, in Trenton, New Jersey. Baltimore took him in the sixth round of the 1965 amateur draft, and he reached the Orioles on April 14, 1967, winning the game with five no-hit innings out of the bullpen. He worked as a swingman that rookie year, making 15 starts among 32 appearances and completing two of them, and did not pitch in the majors again until 1970, when the expansion Montreal Expos used him strictly in relief. Listed at 6-foot-2 and 180 pounds, Dillman closed a two-season big league career with a 7-12 record, a 4.54 ERA, 86 strikeouts and three saves in 50 games and 154.2 innings, finishing 16 of them.
