The story on this card

Card #4 in the 1968 Topps set shows the American League RBI leaders from 1967, the year Boston's pennant race came down to the final weekend. Carl Yastrzemski topped the league with 121 RBIs for Boston, the RBI leg of the Triple Crown season that carried the Red Sox to the pennant on the last day of the schedule. Harmon Killebrew drove in 113 for Minnesota, matching Yastrzemski with 44 home runs as the Twins finished a game behind Boston. Frank Robinson added 94 RBIs for Baltimore, far from that year's race. All three had worn an American League MVP crown or soon would: Robinson had already won it in 1966 with his own Triple Crown, and Yastrzemski took the award for 1967. The card puts three sluggers and three very different Octobers on a single piece of cardboard.

Carl Yastrzemski, 'Yaz,' gave Boston all 23 of his seasons, following Ted Williams in left field. He won the 1967 Triple Crown and MVP, three batting titles, seven Gold Gloves and 18 All-Star nods, and reached Cooperstown on the first ballot in 1989. Harmon Killebrew was the Twins' quiet, powerfully built slugger of the 1960s, a six-time American League home run champion who hit more homers in the decade than anyone else and won the 1969 AL Most Valuable Player award. Frank Robinson - Cincinnati's 1961 National League MVP, then Baltimore's 1966 American League Triple Crown winner, MVP and World Series MVP after one of baseball's most lopsided trades; nicknamed "the Judge," he later became the majors' first Black manager.
