About Jimmie Hall

Hall passed through Cleveland, New York and Chicago in 1969, hitting .224 with 3 home runs and 9 stolen bases. Card #649, a seventh-series high number, lists him with the Cubs. He opened 1970 with Chicago and finished with Atlanta, batting .165 with 2 home runs in 67 games, and the Braves released him after the season.

Jimmie Randolph Hall was a left-handed hitting outfielder from Mount Holly, North Carolina, who signed in 1956 and spent the next six full seasons in the minor leagues before reaching the majors with the Minnesota Twins in 1963. That rookie season he hit 33 home runs, setting the American League record for home runs by a player with no prior big league experience, and he was an All-Star in 1964 and 1965. Hall played all three outfield spots for Minnesota, then moved on to the California Angels, Cleveland Indians, New York Yankees, Chicago Cubs, and Atlanta Braves. He hit 20 or more home runs in each of his first four seasons and appeared in the 1965 World Series for the pennant-winning Twins.
