The story on this card

His mound debut came on May 30, 1970, when he entered against the Padres with the Cubs down 4-0 and gave four innings of one-run relief while Chicago pulled back to 4-4. Dunegan shares #121 in the 1971 Topps set with Roe Skidmore, a Rookie Stars card that is the first for each man and is printed with the Cubs. It was a first-series card. Jim Dunegan, a Burlington, Iowa native drafted by the Cubs in 1967 as an outfielder and first baseman, converted to pitching and worked 13 1/3 innings for Chicago in 1970, going 0-2 with a 4.72 ERA.

Skidmore's lone big league appearance came on September 17, 1970, when he pinch hit for Joe Decker in the seventh inning at Wrigley Field and singled off Jerry Reuss. Topps put him on #121, a first-series Rookie Stars card shared with fellow Cubs prospect Jim Dunegan. The card shows him with the Cubs, but on November 30, 1970, they traded him to the White Sox with Dave Lemonds and Pat Jacquez for Ossie Blanco and Jose Ortiz. Roe Skidmore, a right-handed first baseman from Decatur, Illinois, appeared in one major league game, as a Cubs pinch hitter in 1970. He was a 1969 Pacific Coast League All-Star at Tacoma.
