About Ken Berry

Berry's bat fell from .276 to .221 in his first season with the Angels. He played 111 games, 101 of them in the outfield, and had 66 hits. He added 3 home runs, 22 RBI and 3 stolen bases. His #466, a fourth-series card, shows him with California.

Allen Kent Berry broke in with the Chicago White Sox as a 21-year-old center fielder in September 1962 and spent parts of nine seasons with the club as a good defensive outfielder. A right-handed hitter out of Kansas City, Missouri, he earned his lone All-Star selection in 1967 as the White Sox chased the pennant into the season's final days, and he backed that up with Gold Glove awards in 1970 and 1972. Traded to the California Angels after the 1970 season, Berry played there through 1973, then closed his career with Milwaukee in 1974 and Cleveland in 1975. Over fourteen big-league seasons he hit .255 with 1,053 hits and a .989 fielding percentage, leading American League outfielders in fielding percentage three times. He was inducted into the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame in 2015.
