The story on this card

Brinkman made the 1971 White Sox and played in 15 games, sitting on the bench from August 2 through September 29. Manager Chuck Tanner still praised him, calling him a brick wall behind the plate who caught balls easily even when they were in the dirt. His #13 card is a Rookie Stars issue shared with Dick Moloney, both with the Chicago White Sox, and is the rookie card for each. Chuck Brinkman was a defense-first catcher who played 149 games from 1969 to 1974, nearly all for the White Sox and the last few for the Pirates. The younger brother of shortstop Ed Brinkman, he caught for Ohio State's 1966 College World Series champions.

The Chicago White Sox Rookie Stars card #13 prints his name as Dick and pairs him with Charlie Brinkman, and it is the rookie card for both men. It was issued in the first series of 1971 Topps, and his entire big-league record was one appearance for the White Sox in 1970. Richie Moloney, a Brookline, Massachusetts right-hander, pitched one inning for the Chicago White Sox on September 20, 1970, giving up two hits, striking out Jim Holt and finishing with a 0.00 ERA.
