The story on this card

Pittsburgh won the 1971 World Series on October 17 at Memorial Stadium, taking Game 7 by 2-1 behind a four-hit complete game from Steve Blass over Baltimore's Mike Cuellar. Roberto Clemente hit a two-out home run off Cuellar in the fourth, and Jose Pagan doubled home Willie Stargell in the eighth. Don Buford's RBI groundout in the eighth produced the only Oriole run. It was the only game of the Series won by the visiting team, and Blass finished with two complete-game wins. Clemente, who had hit safely in all seven games, was named Series MVP with a .414 average. Card #229 in the 1972 Topps World Series subset shows the Pirates and was printed in the second series.
