1972 Topps #476 Lee Richard

About Lee Richard
Richard broke in with the White Sox in April 1971, and Topps pictured him with them on #476, a card from the set's fourth series and his rookie card. The season behind it included 68 games at shortstop, 17 RBI and 38 runs scored.
Lee Richard was a right-handed infielder who played parts of five major league seasons between 1971 and 1976, four with the Chicago White Sox and one with the St. Louis Cardinals. He played primarily at shortstop, especially early on, and later appeared more at second base and third base. His busiest year was his first, 1971, when he played 87 games for the White Sox and hit .231 with 8 stolen bases. Over his career he batted .209 with 2 home runs and 29 RBI. The White Sox traded him to the Cardinals for Buddy Bradford and Greg Terlecky on December 12, 1975, and he appeared in his last major league game on October 3, 1976. Born in Lafayette, Louisiana, on September 18, 1948, he died on August 6, 2023.
