The story on this card

Vida Blue's 1.82 ERA led the 1971 American League, and #92 lists him ahead of Wilbur Wood of the White Sox at 1.91 and Jim Palmer of the Orioles at 2.68. Blue went 24-8 with 301 strikeouts and 8 shutouts and won both the Cy Young Award and the MVP. Wood, a reliever from 1967 through 1970, went 22-13 in 334 innings as a knuckleball starter. Palmer was 20-9 in 282 innings for a Baltimore rotation that had four 20-game winners.

Vida Blue was a hard-throwing left-hander who won the 1971 American League Cy Young Award and MVP Award with Oakland, pitched for three straight World Series winners from 1972 to 1974, and finished 209-161 with the Athletics, Giants and Royals. Hoyt Wilhelm helped Wilbur Wood make the knuckleball his primary pitch with the White Sox. Wood set a major league record with 88 pitching appearances in 1968, including 2 starts. Jim Palmer was Baltimore's ace right-hander, a three-time Cy Young winner and four-time Gold Glover who worked on three World Series champions, beat Sandy Koufax in Koufax's final appearance, and reached the Hall of Fame in 1990.
