1974 Topps #351 Dwight Evans

About Dwight Evans
Evans hit .281 as Boston's right fielder in 1974 and drove in 70 runs. He collected 130 hits in 133 games, with 10 home runs, and his throwing arm kept him in the lineup. Card #351 gives him his own Red Sox entry.
Dwight Evans played right field for the Boston Red Sox from 1972 through 1990 and finished with the Baltimore Orioles in 1991. Known to teammates as Dewey, he had a reputation for one of the strongest arms in the American League, won eight Gold Gloves between 1976 and 1985, and later became a power hitter. He was a three-time All-Star and twice won the Silver Slugger. His best seasons came in the 1980s: he tied for the American League home run lead with 22 in the strike-shortened 1981 season, hit 32 in both 1982 and 1984, and in 1987 batted .305 with 34 home runs and 123 RBIs. He finished with 385 home runs, 1,384 RBIs and 2,446 hits in 2,606 games. Only Carl Yastrzemski played more games for Boston. He was inducted into the Red Sox Hall of Fame in 2000.
