The story on this card
The 1976 Topps Postseason subset closes with #462, the Cincinnati Reds World Series card, following #461 for the two league championship series. It recalls Game 7 of the 1975 World Series at Fenway Park on October 22, which the Reds won 4-3 over Boston after trailing 3-0. Boston scored all three runs in the third inning off Don Gullett, two of them on bases-loaded walks. Tony Perez cut the lead to 3-2 with a two-run homer off Bill Lee in the sixth, and Pete Rose singled in the tying run in the seventh. In the ninth, with Ken Griffey on third and Rose walked intentionally, Joe Morgan blooped a single into center field off rookie Jim Burton for the winning run. Will McEnaney retired the Red Sox in order, ending a wait of 35 years since the Reds' last title, in 1940.
